A unique bilingual Kindergarten in Paris

3 to 5 years old

The Garden academy welcomes children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old in its bilingual school program. Much more than a bilingual school in Paris, our program prepares your children for school in a bilingual English environment.

100% Native English Speaking Teachers

England, the United States, Ireland, Canada: thanks to the team of qualified teachers all from English speaking countries, children learn much more than language at The Garden Academy. Children learn about different cultures, identifying accents, as well as familiarizing themselves with country specific festivals helping them to receive a truly international education! The English speaking environment allows children to assimilate concepts while becoming perfectly bilingual by mastering the official international language in all aspects.

Personalized teaching

A Mixed Pedagogy

While adhereing to the knowledge and skill requirements of French National Education, The Garden Academy has designed its own teaching program by mixing two complemetary curricula: The American school program which favors group work and conversation practice, and French school curriculum. This mixed educational content allows children to take advantage of their strengths through each teaching method.

The Experiment

Within each grade level, children acquire skills in mathematics, enrich their vocabulary, develop their oral expression, foster their imagination and creativty, fine tune their motor skills as well grow their physical abilities. From the start of Kindergarten, children are introduced to phonological awareness, and work on building their early childhood literacy. This follows the American education system whereas the introduction of this learning starts later in the French education.

Full Potential

In the Garden Academy school program, teaching methods never favor competition between students, but place emphasis on the individual learning of each child with the aim of developing their full potential gradually in a positive learning environment. The aim is always to prepare them for their educational future and beyond.

Active Pedagogies

At The Garden Academy school program teachers are trained in active pedagogy which aid children in gaining autonomy, as well as sharpen their critical thinking skills while progressing at their own pace. The teaching team welcomes students using a unique pedagogical approach inspired by the methods of Maria Montessori (autonomous workshops), Freinet (experimental trial and error, individualized learning), Reggio Emilia (cooperative pedagogy, project pedagogy) and the American STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathmatics) approach. The combined aim is to constantly adapt to the needs of the child while also respecting their individuality. The three maternelle sections at The Garden Academy each hold only 8 to 10 students maximum, with multi-level classes in order to provide personalized quality lessons while also taking into account the ability of each child.

We strongly believe that eduation shouldn’t just be about delivering a curriculum, however brilliant it may be. Education is an exciting field which should allow children to be intellectually stimulated while developing real affinities for the subjects they are learning, starting with English and Music.

What is the difference between full immersion and a bilingual school2021-12-21T19:08:10+01:00

What does a typical day in the preschool look like?2021-12-21T19:09:29+01:00

A typical preschool day starts with drop offs happening between 8h30 and 9h. Children are welcomed into class where they are encouraged to autonomously prepare themselves for the day by putting on slippers and washing their hands. Children have circle time every morning where they are introduced to a wide variety of new vocabulary, music, and activities based on developmental needs and interests. Our learning themes and objectives change every 1-2 weeks. Within each theme there are different workshops each day ranging from phonics, sensory, math and counting, arts and crafts, motor skills, and music and movement. We also have montessori workshops each afternoon that are applied based on the child’s developmental abilities. All of our programs are given through a positive, play based learning environment. Snacks are given every day along with our catered lunch program. Full day students also have a nap time that is taken each day after lunch. Half day students stay until 11h30, with full day students finishing their day at 16h.

What age can children start learning English2021-12-21T19:07:30+01:00

Children can learn English at any age but the optimal ages are between 2 and 6 years old while ears, mouths and palates are being formed. Learning happens especially quickly in an immersive environment.
